WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE A DESIGNER?
I am a dreamer. I have always loved to watch movies and people and then close my eyes and wonder how I could make my visions a reality. I want my designs to conjure up the imagery of books, sculptures, paintings and secret stories all through the medium of my pencils and threads.
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?
To create beautiful designs for women and ultimately to give them what they want. I pride myself on paying close attention to detail from inception to the final stitch. Every creation bears the signature Christos Dovas™ New York.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE WHEN DESIGNING?
Every possible material that will contribute to the correct translation from page to finished product. Some of the materials and textiles I work with include metallic leathers, fur, skins, silk laces, pearls, rhinestones, beads, hand-made silk flowers, wool fabrics and vintage artifacts.
DO YOU DESIGN ALONE OR DO YOU WORK AS PART OF A TEAM?
I execute each design personally and am involved in every step of the process. When it comes to accessories each piece is custom made so I rely on a team of specialists to ensure the highest quality.

ON A PERSONAL ORDER HOW IS THE FINAL DESIGN SELECTED?
We talk about the occasion and the specific details regarding the item. The next step is to sit side by side drawing sketches. After several sketches there will be the final one that fulfills the client’s vision for the event. Our clients participate in the whole process to ensure that the final product truly reflects who they are.
IF IT IS A CUSTOM PIECE, HOW DO WE AGREE ON A DESIGN, FABRIC?
There is always time to talk and express opinions on choices and different options. I will work closely with the client to ensure she is happy, while providing my expertise when it comes to the specifics of the fabric.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH?
To begin with a one-of-a-kind pattern is created to the exact measurements of the client. Once the pattern has been constructed we shape it to the client’s body, taking note of how the fabric fits and drapes. At this stage the customer’s input is imperative as this is where the design comes to life. While the pattern is simply made from muslin, it is still considered a piece, and the muslin provides an excellent indication of the finished garment. When the client is satisfied with the fit, the pattern shall be transferred to the chosen fabric. Throughout the process we shall continue to size the item to the client ensuring a 100% made to measure, custom tailored article of clothing. The entire process shall be done by hand guaranteeing the highest standards in terms of quality.
IF I WANT YOU TO DESIGN MY WEDDING DRESS HOW MUCH ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED?
Where possible a year in advance is preferable. However, each situation is unique and we will do our very best to work within your schedule.
TYPICALLY HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE A CUSTOM-MADE GOWN?
Ultimately, time is an important factor and we are conscious of being as time efficient as possible while not compromising the finished product. Based on the intricacy of a custom made design each item can take a minimum of six weeks to complete from consultation to finished gown. Do keep in mind that for special occasions we develop a prototype first and therefore the process takes longer.
I AM A CLASSIC WORKING WOMAN WHO LIKES A SIMPLE YET CHIC DESIGN. I WANT MY CLOTHES TO DEFINE MY STYLE YET STILL BE APPROPRIATE TO MY LIFESTYLE. THEREFORE A CONSULTATION WOULD BE VERY BENEFICIAL. WHAT ARE YOUR CONSULTATION FEES?
Should you decide to move ahead with our design service any consultations will be considered part of our service. Therefore no fees shall be incurred.
HOW MUCH DOES EACH PIECE COST? HOW ARE YOUR PRICES DETERMINED?
For accessories the price point varies according to style number. Evening gown prices are dependent upon the client’s wishes along with the intricacy of the design. Generally prices are calculated based on the difficulty of design, chosen fabrics and requested time of delivery.
WHAT ARE YOUR ACCEPTED FORMS OF PAYMENT?
We accept all major credit cards, checks, direct deposits and cash. All payments are subject to receipt. Please note that payment must be cleared in full before we commence service.
